Blue Moon by Alyson Noel blog (Fantasy)

Blue Moon's Ever Bloom is yet another heroine to fall into the freshly cliched plot of doomed love. First Twilight, then Vampire Diaries, then Blue Moon and frankly, it never worked even in the beginning. Between burning bridges and attempting suicide, the plot of these novels are way too dramatic for me. While reading this story, I did see that out of any heroine from these fantasy romance novels, Ever was definitely my favorite since she had more archetypes than the rest of them. There did come several problems though, like what was with the fad of leaving everyone for your lover whom you've known for only a month? This whole series is actually fantastic for someone into fantasy, suspense, and romance, but of you're actually looking for some brain food to broaden your knowledge of human nature, then this teen novel will just intensify the sterotype that teenagers only care about burning all bridges with reality to have a dramatic and fantastic romance. Another peeve about this book is that it made the main character the only real one there. Everyone else was so superficial and never really changed, it burned me how Ever just told you their personalities without you even learning yourself. The "popular" girls were rude and promiscious, her only female friend was just as rude, but two faced about it, leading up to why this book is a real "winner". The mysterious bad boy is the only one who understands her. Though romances are growing, they are probably the hardest to pull off, trying to show some real connection without creating a wishy-washy plot dependent on it. I give Blue Moon a 7/10 for it's likeabe heroine, decent storytelling, but horrible character development.
